Using VIfix

AI fixes

AI fixes use your own API key. VIfix sends only what the model needs to fix one finding.

Set up a provider#

1. Get an API key

   Create a key in the Anthropic Console or the OpenAI dashboard. Settings → AI provider links straight to both.

2. Add it to VIfix

   Paste the key and pick a model. The key is encrypted in your OS keychain.

3. Generate a fix

   On any finding, click Generate AI fix. You'll get a diff plus verification, like a rule fix.

What is sent#

• Only when you click Generate AI fix, and only the single affected file.
• Every detected credential is replaced with a placeholder such as __REDACTED_SECRET_1__ first.
• A patch that writes a placeholder or a real secret back into the code is rejected.

Limits#

Each generated AI fix counts against your plan: 5 per month on Free, 300 on Pro and 1,500 on Max. See Plans and limits.
